We’ve never run our own Meme at MTAM before so I thought it was about time we did and what better theme than in the run up to the day that celebrates one of our best achievements and roles in life – Motherhood!  I read a touching article in this morning’s Metro on the train and these are the questions it asked five mums from all walks of life so I’m using them for this meme.

Describe Motherhood in three words.

Hard work, rewarding, fun

Does your experience differ from your Mother’s – how?

There are similarities as my mum was also a single-parent but although it’s a struggle for me financially my mum had it much worse having twins and having to work two jobs to make ends meet.

What’s the hardest thing about being a mum?

Being on-call 24 hours, having little time to yourself and not being able to have a day in bed if you’re ill!

What’s the best thing?

Seeing this little one grow and turn into their own individual person right before your eyes.

How has it changed you?

I’m a lot more emotional than I used to be and it’s made me want to go for my dreams even more to be a good and strong example to my son.

What do you hope for your children?

That he’ll be happy, confident  and fulfilled in life.

What do you fear for them?

That the ways of society will pull him down or hold him back in some way.

What makes it all worthwhile?

Having little arms wrap tight around your neck and hearing ‘I love you mummy’
